Over time, your Windows computer accumulates various cache files that can consume storage space and potentially slow down your system. Regularly clearing these cache files can help free up space and improve performance. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to clear different types of cache in Windows.

Clean out the Recycle Bin Regularly

Find the Recycle Bin, right-click, and click Empty Recycle Bin. If you don’t want to delete the file passing through the recycle bin, you can directly press Shift+Delete.

Clean up C Drive

1、Temporary Files

Find the C drive, right-click to find Properties, click Disk Cleanup, and check the files you want to delete.

This is just to clean up your C drive garbage, and will not cause file loss. After the selection is complete, click OK, and then click Delete Files.

2、System Files

There is no need to open the properties panel repeatedly, just click Disk Cleanup again, click Clean up System Files, select the file you want to delete, and then click OK.

Computer Automatically Clears Cache

1、Open Settings, and click SystemStorage. Turn on the storage sense button.

2、Then go to Configure Storage Sense or run it Now. Select Every day under Run Storage Sense. Then check to Delete temporary files that my apps aren’t using, and adjust the options below according to your personal needs. Finally, click Clean now. You need to wait a few minutes for this process.

Use the Command to Clear the Garbage Cache

Press Win+R to open the Run box, enter %temp% and click OK. A folder will pop up. At this time, press and hold Ctrl+A to select all files, and then press Shift+Delete to delete them completely without going through the recycle bin.

If there is a prompt that the operation cannot be completed, we only need to check “Do this for all current items”, and then click Skip.

Press Win+R to open the Run box, enter temp, and click OK. Then repeat the same action to completely delete all files. After all the operations are completed, the work of clearing the garbage cache using the command is completed.

Flush DNS Cache

Enter cmd in the search box in the lower left corner, quickly open the Command Prompt, enter ipconfig /flushdns, and then click Enter, then we will see that the DNS resolution cache has been successfully refreshed.
